About Us

The Centre For Mindfulness Canada (CFMC), in North Vancouver, is a member of  Global Mindfulness Collaborative (GMC), which was formed in partnership with the Mindfulness Center at Brown University (MC@B). Our Centre is recognized as one of the handful of world leading institutions in mindfulness that exemplifies the standards for Mindfulness based interventions through evidence-based research and experiential training and education.  Learn more about the Teacher Training Lineage.

CFMC was founded in 2015 by Dr. Kasim Al-Mashat. He is a Registered Psychologist, public speaker, meditation and yoga teacher. Kasim is a Certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher through the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Medical School and MBSR Teacher Trainer through the Mindfulness Center at Brown University and GMC. 

Kasim has also completed a six-month meditation retreat in silence in a forest meditation center in Southeast Asia. He has presented a TEDx talk on mindfulness, entitled “How mindfulness meditation redefines pain, happiness & satisfaction”.

His interest in wellness led him to Laughter Yoga in 2007. He then trained with the creator of Laughter Yoga, Dr. Kataria from Mumbai, India. Kasim teaches the Certified Laughter Yoga Leader (CLYL) training in British Columbia, Canada. He passion for Laughter Yoga inspired him to bring it to organizations, conferences, schools and corporate events.
